I am seriously thinking of changing my blog name to “My unkempt garden”. I am tired of the excuses I have been giving myself and others, I know I need to do more, but still am clueless. Meanwhile my garden is trundling along, few tomatoes here, few brinjals there, few gourds, and few chillies, few bitter gourds, few beans and few okra. Yeah there is a list, but I am not sure, how orderly or productive it is. The older plants of gourds, betal leaves and roses are staying good. The best part of the garden , was, the thousands of small chrysanthemums which bloomed for a month or so.
Here are some visuals:
Corn, Gourd and beans
Beefsteak that won’t turn red
capsicum
the beans that left me confused
seeds of those beans
Handful of harvest early December
My pride, the white pumpkin
Sambhar gourd or dosakaya
For a change, in Goa
Organic , Of course.
Balcony filled with chrysanthemums
Balsams
The last blooms.. bye bye
The weight is pulling the creeper down!
Never failing Brinjal , new plant
Today’s harvest
Cucumber? The first one
Double beans flowering profusely
Double beans vines
Cabbage
Chillies, bitter gourd and Tomato
Cauliflower
Compost tea
I have given a detailed list of inmates living on the Terrace. Hope you enjoyed it.
Miles to go before I reap. Happy Gardening.

G.K. Pillai, that is a nice thought. I am sure you will be successful, and make the lives of gardeners a little more easy and happy.
It is nice to see your plants blooming colorfully.
Post a post once a week at least. So that we need not change your blog’s name!
Happy and Prosperous new year, Pattu!
Ranjani, thanks. I know I need to post, but too much going on right now. I am not doing enough in the garden, so nothing to talk about. The posts keep going in my head, but am not inspired yet to put them down. Love.
Whatever name you may keep, your garden is too lovely to be overlooked.
Thanks Matheikal. This encouragement I need now 🙂
Love your garden and the veggies are very fresh…Just the best 🙂
Thanks Uma!
Call it what you will, Pattu…it’s still an inspiration. 🙂
Hi Seekraz, after a long time..:-)

Hello Madam, I was looking for your new post from many months. Thanks for coming back with such a wonderful post. Please keep blogging.
Thanks swapnil! Loved it.
Lovely flowers, and fresh veggies, Pattu Mami, they all look good. So what if its unkept, the plants are all growing in harmony and doing their best to flower and fruit!!
Thanks Jayanthi 🙂
Wow! I wish to do that some day – gardening just like you. I love it. 🙂 Your garden is inspirational ma’am, I wish I could grab some of those veggies for myself. Keep at it, keep posting.
Thanks Arti. Yes those vegetables keeps one trying for more growth, come what may. Now it is on trying stages. Needs a lot of work and time.
Patti it looks neat only to me.. :).
Thanks Ashreyamom!. The I-pod needs to be credited by giving good pics, which are used for the blog. I have observed that many of the friends who saw the garden recently were not very happy with that. That is why I need to improve, before showcasing .
Everything looks fantastic, Pattu. Did I tell you that I’ve moved to Hyderabad? Would love to come and see your terrace garden some day.
Oh.. How nice to know you are in Hyderabad. Sure , when the garden is having a good growth, we all can meet. Right now it is a mess. We are having water problem in my street. Trying to sort it out before summer.
It’s always wonderful to visit your garden 🙂
Thanks Mahalakshmi. I took this chance and read the posts I missed in your lovely blog.
Here is how I look at it… the plants are growing at a faster rate than you can prune them, a sure sign of a successful Gardner.. I would rather have an unkempt garden with healthy growing plants smiling and flowering… 🙂
Thanks Prasad. I got it.. this is another way of looking at plants.:-)
You have tremendous variety Pattu-i am jealous!
Aha.. loved it. Induji!!!:-)))))
you have grown a lot! happy gardening 🙂
Thanks Jeevan. take care.
I always love to see pictures of your garden no matter what you think of it :). Keep writing, Pattu!

Thanks Arati. Please get well soon. All the best. Have a wonderful year 2014
Such healthy vegetables and happy flowers can only happen when the gardener is a caring soul. Lovely garden indeed 🙂
Thanks Dilipji. I have shown only the prettier parts of the plants. Not the litter around :-))
Welcome Pattu! I missed you so much!
You call it unkempt but the pics show that it is thriving. Good luck for your efforts!
Love your garden blog. Looking at those pics is soothing. Reading your blog encouraged me to take up gardening soon.
Thanks Neha. All the best for happy gardening.
I love your garden! It doesn’t seem to be unkempt at all. 🙂
Thanks Asha Ram. Felt good.
Don’t bother about orderliness when gardening is concerned. It is better that the plants are mixed up. It may bother you a bit, however, I have seen that productivity is better when different plants are mixed up instead of being planted in neat rows. The photographer in me may not like if each plant is not planted in neat symmetrical rows, however pollination is better if they are mixed up. Also, I feel the plants grow well if they are mixed up.
Thanks Sabyasachiji for taking time to visit my blog and comment. Loved it!.Yes, it is true that pollination is no bother due to the mix ups, and this year I did not have many pest issues too.
I am guilty of not visiting your wonderful and informative blog posts.
That is quite a rabbit hole you keep escaping to. I loved the concluding line: Miles to go before I reap.
Bang on Umashankar. Now that I put into words, I am trying to be better. But excuses keep popping in my head when I see the clutter.:-)
Hi Mam,
this is Aarati. I have a lovely balcony garden which includes mostly ornamental plants. I have recently started growing french beans. radish. tomatoes. pudina in containers.I am very much inspired by your blog. have you been to the Horti expo at Nizam college? can you post long veiw shots of your terrace garden so that we we will be able to see it.
Thanks Aarati. I did visit Horti Expo and bought a few things. As summer is fast coming on, and water is becoming a scarcity, my garden is shrinking now. I will search for my old photographs of the terrace and post it.
Meanwhile, keep writing about your balcony garden and what are the ornamentals you are having. All the best for your vegetable plants too.
Ur chrysanthemams are beutifull..i planted one and Im waiting from 5months to see it bloom..
